Anna Mae Berghorst, age 90, of Hills, Minnesota, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, at the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills.

Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 9, from 6-8 p.m. at the Steen Reformed Church in Steen, Minnesota. A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, at the Steen Reformed Church in Steen, with Reverend Jeremy Wiersema officiating. Burial will follow in the Eastside Cemetery, rural Steen, Minnesota.

Arrangements are in the care of the Jurrens Funeral Home of Hills, Minnesota.

Anna Mae Berghorst was born on June 12, 1935, in Slayton, Minnesota, the daughter of John J. and Susie (Hoek) Tinklenberg. She grew up in Edgerton, Minnesota, and later graduated from Edgerton High School in 1953.

On February 25, 1955, Anna Mae was united in marriage to Sidney Berghorst at Edgerton, Minnesota. The first year they were on the family farm near Steen, before moving to Bellflower, California. Anna Mae served as a Foster Mother while living in California. In 1971 they moved back to Steen.  Anna Mae went to work as a CNA at the Tuff Memorial Home in Hills, where she worked for 31 years.   

She was a member of the Steen Reformed Church. She enjoyed reading, cooking and baking for family and friends, as well as gardening, canning, and tending to her flowers. Anna Mae was always taking care of others and will be remembered for the waffles and sausage she would make after church on Sunday for any family that stopped by.

In July of 2016, Anna Mae and her husband, Sid, moved to the Tuff Memorial Assisted Living Village.

Anna Mae is survived by her five children, Minnie (Melvin) Van Batavia of Steen, Minnesota, Susan (Allen) Nuffer of Hills, Minnesota, David Berghorst of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Betty (Calvin) Saarloos of Luverne, Minnesota, and Anita (Dirk) Burgdorf of Germantown, Maryland; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; brother Clarence (Sandy) Tinklenberg of Grandville Michigan; sister-in-law Rose Tinklenberg of Lake Crystal, Minnesota; nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Berghorst; parents, John and Susie Tinklenberg; brother, Charles Tinklenberg; stepmother, Hermina Tinklenberg; sister, Nell Remme; sister, Joyce Bristow; brother, Harris Tinklenberg; and in-laws, Joe and Minnie Berghorst, Henry and Ruth Berghorst and Dick and Alberta Fikse.
