Stroeh’s Auto Center on East Main Street in Luverne is celebrating 15 years in business.
Owner Alan Stroeh purchased the business from Lyle Nelson in 2004 and moved it to the former Bush’s 66 location on the corner of Main and Spring streets.
“I always wanted to go into business on my own and I’m glad I did,” Stroeh said.
Stroeh began working at Herman Motors in 1977 and then worked at Nelson’s from 1990 until starting his own shop.
“I’ve been working on cars on Main Street Luverne for 42 years,” he said proudly.
Stroeh said he was nervous at first to start his own business, but business has been good.
“They told me the first week I opened that most businesses fail within a year, but I’m happy to be here fifteen years later,” Stroeh said. “We’re always busy.”
Being honest and fair with customers, along with word of mouth in a small town, are what Stroeh credits for his business success.
“We try to do things right,” Stroeh added.
Along with Stroeh, mechanics Cliff Enninga and Doug Flier and office manager Robin Erlandson complete the team.
Stroeh said he wants to thank his employees and customers for the success of Stroeh’s Auto Center.
The business will be hosting an open house to celebrate its anniversary on Friday, Aug. 9, during regular business hours. There will be drawings, and cupcakes will be served.
“We just hope everyone stops down so we can thank them for their business,” Stroeh said. “And we hope to continue to serve them in the future.”
