John Oksness (right) blesses the new plaque dedicated Monday afternoon for Mgsr. Francis Sampson at St. Catherine Cemetery in Luverne as Father Tom Jennings (center) and the St. Catherine Knights of Columbus watch. Oksness led a citizens group to raise money, design and erect the monument to Sampson, whose book, “Look Out Below!” became the inspiration for the 1998 movie, “Saving Private Ryan.” Sampson was buried next to his mother on Jan. 28, 1996.
