'Party in Pink' benefits breast cancer research

Lead Summary

Nora Wysong and Stephanie Page participated in the Ninth Annual “Party in Pink” vendor event to benefit breast cancer Saturday, Oct. 5, at the home of Lila and Rick Tatge in Beaver Creek. “This year’s event is special and a very tough one,” said Lila Tatge. “I started this in honor of my mom, Leah Doorneweerd, who was first diagnosed and had a mastectomy in 1996, again in 2000, and then in 2009 it went into her jawbone. She had plastic surgery and a plate to replace the jawbone. She died Feb. 4, 2019, at the age of 91 after this long battle. She was one tough lady.” Vendors participating in the event were Tupperware, Norwex, Tastefully Simply, Page Designs, Mary Kay, XYNGULAR, Origami Owl, Thirty One, US BORNE, Scentsy, Color Street, Pink Zebra, Pampered Chef and Young Living Oils. A bake sale and lunch was served and provided by the H-BC After Prom Committee. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.
