Lots for sale; city sets prices on industrial properties

Luverne city leaders have been busy this summer preparing industrial lots for sale and development.
At their Monday morning meeting, members of the Luverne Economic Development Authority approved a resolution that sets the sale price of various lots in Luverne’s industrial neighborhoods.
For example, prices for the three lots in the Walnut Industrial Subdivision were set at $25,000 apiece. These parcels are just under an acre each — 260 by 160 feet — on the west side of the street.
“These will add to our portfolio of lots available through the EDA,” said Holly Sammons, EDA director.
At their Sept. 14 meeting, EDA members set sale prices for smaller lots on the other side of Walnut Avenue at $12,500 each. These are roughly 100 by 100 feet.
At Monday’s meeting, the LEDA also set prices for other parcels in the Industrial Park.
For example, lots in Gabrielson Second Industrial Subdivision were set at $5,000, and those in the Special Industry First Addition were set at 50 cents per square foot.
“Hopefully we can get some of these loose ends tied up so we can focus on industrial park development,” Sammons said.
As part of Monday’s LEDA business, the board approved spending $50,000 on improvements to the lots to make them “shovel ready” for potential buyers.
“This will bring them up to a more realistic level of availability,” Sammons said about investing in site assessments and engineering.
Information about the lots, including maps and prices, are available on the city’s website, www.cityofluverne.org.
