After 15 years in the business, Mike and Wanda Jarchow, Luverne, have sold Big Top Tent Rentals.
In a July letter to customers, they introduced new owners Jordan and Stacey Smidt, Larchwood.
“You can rest assured that you will receive the same top-notch service from Jordan and Stacey that we endeavored to provide ourselves,” their letter states.
They said Jordan has 10 years of experience in the tent rental business, and the Smidts will keep the name “Big Top Tent Rentals,” which will continue to be based out of Luverne.
The Jarchows said current and pending rental agreements will be honored, and that the business transition should be seamless for customers.
Wanda will continue to handle scheduling and billing until Oct. 1, at which point the phone number will change from 283-9664 to 449-6102.
In their letter, the Jarchows thank customers for their past and present business.
“We are thankful for the business relationships and friendships we have built and established over the past 15 years, as well as the new people we have been privileged to meet through the business,” they wrote to customers.
Mike said Jarchow Enterprises (which also includes snow removal, the Laundromat and rental properties) is changing its focus to allow him and Wanda to spend more time with their six children, ages 5 to 14.
“My next business idea will be here in Luverne, so we won’t have to travel,” he said.
He added that he won’t miss the time on the road, but he will miss working with customers on their special occasions.
“You don’t meet anyone who’s not happy,” Mike said. “They’re always happy to see you because they’re having a good time. Part of the joy is setting up for the event.”
The Smidts said they’re looking forward to continuing the business on their own.
“It’s definitely exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time,” Jordan said. “I like that the long hours will be more worthwhile for us as owners of the business.”
He said he’s pleased with his full-time work crew, Andrew Hamann, Luverne, and Scott Erickson and Jeris Niemeyer, Larchwood. “It’s a decent group of guys to work with,” he said.
In a letter to Big Top Tent Rental customers, he said customer service will be the top priority for business going forward, and they are happy to accept new rental ideas from customers.
“We have been blessed by this opportunity that Mike and Wanda have given us and look forward to working with you in the future,” the letter stated.
The Smidts have two children, Belle and Baylee, ages 9 and 6, who attend school in the West Lyon District.
