Luverne’s 53rd Annual Hot Dog Nite will be Thursday, July 16, on Main Street.
The event will feature a beer garden at Sterling’s Café, live music, wiener dog races, wiener dog beauty contest and much more.
“Visit Luverne businesses and enjoy some of the over 10,000 free hot dogs and beverages given away for this great hometown event,” said Luverne Area Chamber Director Jane Wildung Lanphere.
Serving begins at 5:30 p.m. and ends when hot dogs run out.
“Be sure to stay around and enjoy some of the other great things that are happening that night,” Lanphere said.
She mentioned the following Hot Dog Night features:
•Luverne Farmers Market from 4 to 7 p.m. at Redbird Field
•Fantasy Face Painting and temporary tattoos at 5 pm.
•HGS Gallery face painting for children and adults from 5 to 7 p.m. with Lori Hallstrom
•Classic Car Show at Poplar Creek Estates from 5 to 7 p.m. “Cruise-in for fun and fellowship; live music with “L’attitude”.
•Fifth Annual Wienerman Triathlon at 6:15 p.m. – 4-person relay races throughout town featuring eating, swimming, biking and running – information and registration available at wienermanworldchampionship.com
•ARC Youth Band from 6:30 to 7 p.m. Performance on North Freeman by bleachers.
•Eighth Annual Wiener Dog Beauty Contest at 7 p.m. for best-looking male and female dachshund, sponsored by Rock Veterinary Clinic
•12th Annual Wiener Dog Races immediately following the Beauty Contest – Watch your favorite dachshund race the course for first place in this “fastest dog” competition sponsored by Rock Veterinary Clinic
•Midwest Fire new fire engine – free Freezie Pops
•Ice Cream … Kettlecorn … Snow Cones … Cotton Candy
•Tae Kwon Do demonstrations at 6 p.m.
•Spotlight Dance performance at 6:30 p.m.
•Fourth Annual Girl Scouts and Schwartz Farms Inc. Hot Dog Fine Art Contest from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m. Cash awards at 6 p.m.
•Music On Main from 6 to 11 p.m. “Smooth Grooveperforms at Main and Freeman from 6-9 p.m., sponsored by Sterlings Cafe & Grille. “IV Play” will perform from 8-11 p.m. at Main & McKenzie, sponsored by Duffy’s Wienerman Triathlon
•Beer Garden On Main will be open from 6 p.m. to close. Sterlings Café & Grille will be at Main & Freeman, and The Bluestem Beer Garden will be at Main & McKenzie.
