More events join Hot Dog Night

Luverne’s 54th annual Hot Dog Night celebration is set for Thursday night, July 14, with roughly 15,000 free hot dogs to be served by Luverne Area Chamber members.
“This is a great small town event that just keeps getting better every year,” said Chamber Director Jane Wildung Lanphere.
Hot dogs will be served from 5:30 until supplies are gone, and the rest of the evening promises all the traditions hot dog night has become famous for.
The sixth annual Wienerman World Championship triathlon will begin at 7 p.m. with four-person relay races featuring eating, swimming, biking and running.
Also at 7 will be the ninth annual Wiener Dog Beauty Pageant followed by the 13th annual Wiener Dog Races.
The Fine Art Hot Dog Contest will be from 4:40 to 5:45 with awards at 6 p.m.  Fantasy Face Painting will begin at 5 p.m. at Main and Cedar.
New this year will be free inflatables between Estey and Freeman (sponsored by Grand Prairie Event Center, Hair LTD, Manitou Carpets, Quality Printing, Rock County Star Herald and Schomacker Cleaning).
“It continues to amaze me the number of businesses that step up to the plate to do new and unique things to help keep the night exciting,” Wildung Lamphere said.
Free inflatables by the Ice Cream Guys will be between Cedar and McKenzie, and other vendors will have kettle corn, snow cones and cotton candy.
The seventh annual classic car show will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Poplar Creek Estates, where there will also be root beer floats, hot dogs and live music.
Tae Kwon Do demonstrations are at 6 p.m. on Main Street, and the ARC Youth Band will perform on North Freeman Avenue at 6 p.m. by the bleachers.
Spotlight Dancers will perform on Main Street between Cedar and McKenzie from 6:30 to 7 p.m.
