Four new teachers start at H-BC Public Schools

Four new teachers will be working in classrooms when the school doors open for students at H-BC for the 2016-17 school year.
Samantha McGaffee will be teaching special education in the elementary and high school.
She lives in Sioux Falls. McGaffee attended Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall and graduated with degrees in Early Childhood Education and Academic Behavioral Strategist.
She previously taught third and fourth grade for one year at West Side Elementary School in Marshall. McGaffee is a graduate of H-BC. She said, “My goal at H-BC is to individualize my instruction for my students based on their specific needs to help them achieve at their highest level.”
Christopher Haak will teach fifth through 12th-grade band. Currently living in Sioux Falls he graduated from Augustana University, Sioux Falls, in 2012.
His previous teaching experience was teaching K – 6 vocal music in the Sioux Falls Catholic School.
Jannelle Lafrentz will be teaching general music in grades K -6, junior high choir, exploration and high school choir grades 9 through 12 and voice lessons. 
She lives in Sioux Falls with her husband, Mike, and their 1 ½ -year-old-son, James. Her favorite part of teaching is letting her students shine like the stars.
Her favorite quote about music is “Where words fail, music speaks.” — Hans Christian Andersen.
Randi Oftedahl will teach junior high science, English and social studies. She lives in Luverne with her husband, Craig, who is superintendent at Luverne Public Schools.
They have four children, Eleanor, Teresa, Rachael and Carlton. This is Oftedahl’s 23rd year of teaching. She has taught in grades 2-8 and was active in coaching volleyball, basketball and track.
