Rock County Commissioners approved an additional $100,000 in CARES grants for distribution to eligible Rock County businesses and non-profit organizations at their regular Tuesday meeting.
CARES Act stands for Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security Act.
Commissioners originally earmarked $675,000 for distribution in early July, and as of Tuesday more than $612,000 has been allocated to 95 businesses and 38 non-profit organizations in Rock County.
Each entity can ask for up to $5,000 to defray expenses and/or financial losses caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Prior to Tuesday’s additional allocation, just over $64,000 was still available.
According to auditor-treasurer Ashley Kurtz, 10 business applications were still pending, with two new business applications yet to be reviewed. There are no non-profit applications pending or new ones submitted.
Deadline to apply for aid is Aug. 15.
Applications are available at the Rock County website.
The county received $1.18 million from the federal CARES program.
