Coffey Contemporary Arts in Luverne is partnering with Habilitative Services Inc. to bring its first-ever “Art Ability Showcase” to the Main Street gallery.
A grand opening and artists’ reception will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 2, for the special one weekend only show.
HSI has more than 200 clients in several southwest Minnesota communities, and they’re all invited to submit artwork for the show.
“Obviously they’re not all interested in art, but we have some that are pretty excited about it,” said HSI program supervisor Stacy Olson.
“We have several who sketch and paint, and I thought this stuff needs to be seen.”
For gallery owners Cody and Nicole Henrichs, the Art Ability Showcase is another extension of their organization’s mission in Luverne.
“Part of CCA’s mission is to increase arts education and exhibition in our community, encompassing and inviting people from all walks of life and backgrounds, including those in our community with disabilities,” they shared on their invitation to the May 2 event.
“Coffey Contemporary Arts has teamed up with HSI to curate and showcase numerous amazing local artists. Disability does not hold these community talents back from creating beautiful and creative show stoppers.”
Gallery hours for the Art Ability exhibit are from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, May 2-3.
