Another property has been approved for the city of Luverne’s Residential Demolition Grant program.
John Oksness applied for a grant through the program on behalf of the Edward Wehler Estate for the structures at 715 N. McKenzie.
Oksness, who is administrator of the Wehler estate, told city officials the house and garage both show lack of repair and maintenance on the exterior, and the foundation is collapsing.
He said the house, with an estimated market value of $20,000, is not suitable for anyone to live in and it cannot be adequately repaired. The property generates $196 per year in real estate taxes.
The Luverne Economic Development Authority approved a $3,000 grant through the Residential Demolition Grant Program at the Aug. 10 EDA meeting.
This is the third demolition grant awarded so far this year, bringing the total grant dollars to $13,000 so far for the program in 2015.
