Minnesota 4-H conducted the Southwest BLU leadership retreat Feb. 1 in Marshall for 86 youth from the region.
Ten 4-H’ers from Rock County attended the event including Krista Burkman, Zach Uhl, Janica Oechsle, Dennie Sandbulte, Emma Deustch, Morgan Bonnett, Mallie Fick, Makayla Oechsle, Andrea Luitjens and Brianna Kinsinger.
BLU — Building Leadership and Understanding — engages participants in a variety of activities including small and large group discussions, team-building exercises, personal awareness experiences and informational sessions.
This year’s theme was “Unmask Your Inner Leader.”
The retreat was facilitated by youth leaders from the Minnesota 4-H State Ambassador program and supported by a team of adult chaperones.
“BLU was an experience I would not want to miss,” said participant Morgan Bonnett. “It was a good place to meet new people. I learned a lot about being a leader.”
