Cowell sets school record on the vault

The Luverne Cardinals gymnasts finished second in a triangular on Friday, Feb. 13, in Worthington where the Trojans finished first with a score of 142.075.
The Cardinals took second with a score of 126.375. The Windom Eagles finished third with a score of 118.550.
On Monday, Feb. 15, the Cardinals defeated Pipestone Area in Pipestone, 126.400-124.150.
 
Triangular
Amira Cowell set a new school record on the vault with a score of 9.3. The previous school record was 9.25 and was held by Callen Bosshart, who set the record in 2004.
“The girls had a good meet,'' Luverne head coach, Phoebe Flom said. “We struggled to stay on the beam. We are continuing to improve and add new skills with each meet.”
Cowell set the program record with a score of 9.3 and finished third. Cowell finished fifth on the balance beam with a score of 8.325. All-around, Cowell finished fifth with a final score of 33.200.
Ella Reisdorfer finished third in the floor routine with a score of 8.850. She finished fourth in the vault with a score of 9.200. In the bars, Reisdorfer finished fourth with a score of 8.475. All-around, Reisdorfer finished third with a score of 34.550.
 
LHS 126.400 - Pipestone 124.150
Reisdorfer finished first or tied for first in all four events.
In the vault she took home first with a score of 8.800.
She finished first on the beam with a score of 8.950. In the floor routine she finished first with a score of 9.050.
She tied for first on the bars with Kendra Douty with a score of 8.100.
Cowell finished second on the beam with a score of 7.775. She finished third in the bars with a score of 7.150.
The gymnastics team will be back in action on Thursday, Feb. 18, when they hit the road to take on Windom.
