Harnack shares original poem, 'Blown Away'
“Blown Away”
How did we get, to where we are?
How did it ever get this far?
Death threats to scientists
for not liking what they say.
Believing politicians over doctors just blows me away.

We learned stories from the Bible when we were just small.
They now seem outdated,
do not matter at all.

The Good Samaritan
taught us what to do,
In helping somebody
who isn’t like you.

Christ said, “Let the little children come unto Me.”
It is now, “Stop them at the border;
They don’t deserve to be free.”

There was another day, at another time,
When calling people names could be considered a crime.
Now, it seems that’s our leader’s favorite thing to do;
I’m sure he even has one
for me and you.

I am frightened for my grandkids, and their children to come.
What we were taught in the past is being undone.
The bullying, the bragging,
the lying each day;
What Bible are you reading that says it’s okay?

Preuss: 'No human is illegal ... but their acts are'
To the Editor:
Here are some thoughts after reading a sign that read “No human is illegal.” True, but their acts are.
Does abortion prove they are unwanted? Abortion is a woman’s right to do what she desires with her body. Does that allow prostitution and drugs?
Should people decide what statues should be removed, not mobs?
Our politicians represent the people, yet they tell us what they plan to do. Shouldn’t the people tell them what to do? Politicians say they represent us, so why do they vote along party lines?
White supremacy infers all other races are inferior and therefore cannot think or act for themselves. Do you believe that?
Finally, why would you lead a horse to water if you can’t make it drink?
