To the Editor:
I would like to write a short note about the Luverne High School boys’ tennis team.
We had the opportunity to play the Cardinals of Luverne in the Minnesota High School state boys consolation finals. Our tennis team had played an extremely tough schedule during the spring of 2016. We have played several state-ranked teams, and half of our schedule was against AA opponents. Even with this schedule, our team finished the season with a 22-1 record.
I, as the coach of Crookston, along with the team, would like to congratulate the Luverne Cardinals on an outstanding season. We knew nothing of the Cardinals before playing them, but they were as tough of an opponent as we have played all year.
The players on your tennis team played with a fierce competitiveness that we have not seen too often. Even though the Luverne players played an awesome match that was closely contested, they exhibited great attitudes and sportsmanship. Hats off to the Luverne Cardinals head coach Greg Antoine, the players on the tennis team and the Luverne school and community for doing things the right way.
