Accolades go out to band festival participants

To the Editor
The Tri-State Band Festival Committee would like to salute the Luverne community for its overwhelming support and participation in the 65th Annual Tri-State Band Festival.  This event would not happen without the involvement, commitment and energy of so many businesses, organizations and individuals in the Tri-State Region.
We have specifically acknowledged individual contributions in an advertisement on page 11B for the generous donations of time, talents, resources and money. Please look over this list to get an idea of the massive community support that goes into making the festival the best in the region.
That list of contributors is long and impressive, but the greatest accolades belong to the directors and members of the 21 competitive bands and two host bands who participated in the festival. These individuals have spent countless hours in performance and practice to prepare for this great festival.  We express our deepest appreciation for the dedication of these students, directors, parents and supporters who work month after month to create the caliber of performance we were honored to witness.
On a personal level, I would like to thank the members of the Band Festival Committee and staff who have spent the entire year working with me to put together and operate this tremendous community event.   It has been an honor for me to serve as your chairperson. It wouldn’t happen without you.
Our community has a grand 65-year tradition in the operation of this festival. In order to maintain that reputation, it requires the hard work and dedication of everyone. Be proud of what this community has created.
As planning begins for next year’s event, may that sense of community and partnership be the springboard for a great 2016 Tri-State Band Festival on Saturday, Sept. 24 – 66 years strong.
