conditional use permit for kellenberger farms

Pursuant to the Rock County Zoning Ordinance, notice is hereby given by the Rock County Planning and Zoning Commission that a public hearing will be held at the Rock County Law Enforcement Center located at 1000 North Blue Mound Avenue, Luverne, Minnesota, at 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 24, 2015. The purpose of this hearing is to rule on the application for Conditional Use Permit for the following:

Property Owner: Kellenberger Farms

Location: SW 1/4 of Section 32 of Clinton Township, 

T101N, R45W, Rock County, Minnesota

Conditional Use: Expansion of an existing feedlot to more

than 1,000 animal units

The conditional use is for the expansion of an existing feedlot on the property described above. The feedlot consists of a total confinement barn with poured reinforced concrete manure storage under the barn. The barns house 2,400 head of finishing swine between 33 and 300 pounds. Using 0.3 animal units per head, the permitted capacity of the existing facility is 720 animal units.

The expansion shall consist of adding a total confinement barn, with poured reinforced concrete manure storage under the barn, housing 2,400 head of finishing swine. After the expansion, the facility shall hold 4,800 head of swine between 55 and 300 pounds.

Using 0.3 animal units per head, the total capacity of the site will be 1,440 animal units.
