The Rock County Fair is underway in Luverne.
The Star Herald has been previewing the annual event for weeks.
Rock County Fair Board members have been working hard for months to prepare for these three days.
4-H members and families have spent thousands of hours getting ready to show their animals and projects.
Open class entrants have created and grown their ribbon-worthy entries.
Now it’s your turn.
It’s time to find your way to the fairgrounds to spend some time at Rock County’s largest and oldest annual event.
There’s nothing quite like a small town county fair, and we think ours is getting better every year.
If you missed the special edition the Star Herald published about the fair last week, be sure to look it up online at www.star-herald.com. It’s in the B section of the E-edition that appears on the right-hand side of the home page.
Among the stories in that edition, we reported on many new entertainment options and attractions at the fair in recent years.
Every summer fair board members work to improve the fair.
As some other county fairs decline, ours continues growing, adapting and improving.
Maybe the best part of the fair is that even as it changes, at its core it stays the same.
The Rock County Fair is still the three days each summer when people from around the county — town and farm, young and old —come together to celebrate our little corner of Minnesota.
We think that’s reason enough to attend the fair — maybe all three days.
From grandstand shows, free entertainment and a tractor parade to fair foods, animal shows and floral hall projects, there is more than enough to see and do.
We look forward to showcasing the events and winners from this week’s fair in coming editions of the Star Herald.
Until then, we’ll see you at the fair.
