Parenting classes offered
Southwestern Mental Health Center is offering a free four-week parenting class for parents with children 2-18 will begin at 6:30 p.m. April 14, 21, 28 and May 5 and the mental health center in Luverne. Supper and cost for childcare is provided. Call 283-9511 to register. Limited spaces available.
‘School Daze’ musical at Luverne Elementary April 15
The Luverne Elementary first and fourth grades will present their music program, “School Daze,” at 2 p.m. Friday, April 15, in the elementary gym. Revisit the fun trials and tribulations that students experience in school.

‘Belling the Cat’ puppet show at library
In celebration of National Library Week, Jim Oliver with Puppeteer Productions will present the show, “Belling the Cat,” at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 16, at the Rock County Community Library, Luverne. Come to find out how two mischievous mice avoid being caught by a hungry cat. All ages are welcome. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
Palm Sunday Cantata at Grace
The Grace Lutheran Church Chancel Choir and children’s choirs will present a Palm Sunday cantata, “The Highest Place,” during the 8:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. worship services Palm Sunday, April 17. The community is welcome to attend.
Luverne tornado drill April 18
The city of Luverne is notifying residents that a tornado drill will be sounded at approximately 6:45 p.m. Monday, April 18. Sirens will be set off with a Haz. Mat. drill and the city emergency operations center will be activated.
Arc roses here April 19
Roses that were ordered at the Arc sale can be picked up Tuesday, April 19, beginning at 9 a.m. at the American Legion in Luverne.
Register for youth firearms/hunter safety class
Sessions for youth firearms/hunter safety training are offered by the Rock County Sheriff’s Department beginning April 28 for 6 sessions. The classes will be from 7 p.m. to 9:15 p.m., and range day is Saturday, May 7. Phone (507) 283-5000.
