Mound Township Board meets at 7:30 p.m. the second Monday each month at the Rock County Highway Building, Luverne.
Weight Watchers meets every Monday at First Presbyterian Church, Luverne. Weigh-in is from 5 to 5:30 p.m. and the meeting is from 5:30 to 6 p.m. Call 800-651-6000.
 
Food Ministry
The monthly food ministry, sponsored by New Life Celebration Church, will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at the Luverne Senior Center. Come for fresh produce, bread and meat. Children will be asked to wait outside.
 
‘I Can Climb’ at Blue Mounds State Park
First-time climbers can scale the colorful Sioux quartzite cliffs at Blue Mounds State Park Saturday and Sunday, June 20-21. Trained professionals from Vertical Endeavors Guided Adventures will provide hands-on instruction. There is a $10 fee per climber.
The next ‘I Can Climb’ dates are July 25-26 and Aug. 22-23.
 
Luverne Street Music Summer Camp signup due June 20
Luverne Street Music will host summer music camps for all ages the week of July 6-10. Children ages 4-9 will meet in the mornings and ages 10 and older in the afternoon. Singers and instrumentalists are welcome. Camps are led by Mistyn (Iveland) Kozisek and Kelby Robinson and certified music teachers. Adrian blood drive set for June 22
The Community Blood Bank will host a blood drive from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Adrian Ambulance Garage. Those who donate will receive an All-American blood donor T-shirt and a free sub sandwich.

Free community meal June 24 at UMC
The free Fourth Wednesday Community Meal will start at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, at the United Methodist Church in Luverne.
 
Henna tattoo demonstration at Adrian Elementary June 25
The public, ages 12 and older, can learn the history of Henna tattoos, presented by Mehndi Moon Henna, and get a free tattto from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, June 25, at the Adrian Elementary School in Adrian.
This project is funded, in part or in whole, with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
 
Steen outdoor concert set for June 28
The 19th annual outdoor community concert will be at 6 p.m. Sunday, June 28, at the Steen City Park. Musical guests are Armon “Fuzz” Floyd, East of Westerville and Praise to Him Ministries. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Enjoy free bars, juice and ice cream during the concert.
 
East Eden Church annual service
The East Eden Evangelical Lutheran Church will host its annual worship at 11 a.m. Sunday, June 28. Pastor Norman Omodt (who served the congregation during the 1970s) will officiate. Order of worship will be from the black hymnal. The church is located two miles east and one mile north of Jasper. A potluck dinner will follow the service. The tolling of the bell and a program on Pastor Omodt’s missionary trips will be at 1:30 p.m.
The church will be cleaned at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 27. Volunteers are needed. Call Bev Hunstad, 507-348-4126, with questions.
 
Story time hours announced
The 2015 summer reading program, “Read to the Rhythm,” is now underway at the Rock County Community Library in Luverne.
•Story and Art for first- through fifth-graders meets from 3-4 p.m. Wednesdays;
•Story Hour for ages 4, 5 and kindergartners meets from 10-11 a.m. Thursdays; and
•Laptime for children 0-3 with an adult meets from 10:30-11 a.m. Fridays.

Register by June 18 for the Rock County Master Gardeners Garden Tour. This year the Worthington Garden Club will be sharing some of their gardens on Monday, June 29. Fee is $12.
“Frozen” braiding class on June 18 and 25 will teach your child to braid hair into regular, French, fish tail and twist braids. Bring a doll with long hair, brush, comb and pony tail holders and recreate what you saw in the movie “Frozen.” Fee is $13. For students who attended grade 4 this past year and older.
Power Camp for students in grades 7-11 (as attended during 2014-15 school year) begins June 22, meeting three times a week. Fee is $75.
Parents and grandparents can make memories on June 29 for a trip to the Omaha Zoo & Aquarium. The zoo features the largest cat complex in North America, the world’s largest nocturnal exhibit and indoor swamp, the rainforests and the largest indoor desert. Fee per person is $50, which covers the bus and zoo admission.
