Beaver Creek Township Board will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 11, at the township hall.

Rock County Thrivent Financial board meeting will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at Pizza Ranch in Luverne.

Mullet River Boys perform at Palace June 11
The Mullet River Boys will perform vaudeville and bluegrass-influenced jug band music in concert at the Palace Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 11. Tickets are available at the Carnegie Cultural Center or at the door.
 
Story time hours announced
The 2015 summer reading program, “Read to the Rhythm,” is now underway at the Rock County Community Library in Luverne.
•Story and Art for first- through fifth-graders meets from 3-4 p.m. Wednesdays;
•Story Hour for ages 4, 5 and kindergartners meets from 10-11 a.m. Thursdays; and
•Laptime for children 0-3 with an adult meets from 10:30-11 a.m. Fridays.
 
Grace Lutheran hosts Guest Day June 11
The public is invited to attend Guest Day at Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 11. Laurie Westerbur will present her experiences in the Holy Land.
 
Veterans town hall meetings and free movie June 13
Veterans Services Officer Dave Haugom will host two town hall meetings for past and present Red Bull soldiers, World War II veterans and guests, and for anyone who served in Iraq or Afghanistan.
The meetings will be from 3 to 4:30 p.m. and from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at the Palace Theatre. The free movie “Memorial Day” will start at 7 p.m., with a social from 6 to 7 p.m. The movie is open to the public; however, the movie is not appropriate for children.
 
‘Concert on the Prairie’ at Interpretive Center June 13
Enjoy a live concert of music of farms, small towns and prairie at the “Concert on the Prairie — Sounds of Strings” with Paul Imhotle at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at the Interpretive Center of the Blue Mounds State Park. The event is free and open to the public. A reception will follow.
 
Food Ministry
The monthly food ministry, sponsored by New Life Celebration Church, will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at the Luverne Senior Center. Come for fresh produce, bread and meat. Children will be asked to wait outside.
 
Summer track for kids
Kids ages 7-12 who would like to try track and field may register for Summer Track practice. Five afternoon practices will be Tuesdays and Thursdays through June 25. Register and pay $10 fee. A state track and field meet for ages 7-12 will be Saturday, Aug. 1, in Marshall for those who would like to compete. Information and registration forms are available for the state meet at the Community Ed office.
Additionally there will be local track meets in Luverne for all ages. Fee is $5 for each meet. Dates are June 22 and July 13. Call Community Ed at 507-283-4724 with questions.
 
Luverne Street Music Summer Camp signup due June 20
Luverne Street Music will host summer music camps for all ages the week of July 6-10. Children ages 4-9 will meet in the mornings and ages 10 and older in the afternoon. Singers and instrumentalists are welcome. Camps are led by Mistyn (Iveland) Kozisek and Kelby Robinson and certified music teachers. Student Driver Education class is being offered beginning June 15 to any student who is in 8th grade or older. Fee is $290 due with registration and covers 30 hours of classroom and 6 hours of behind the wheel driving.

Register for 2016 Discovery Time preschool. There are openings for children ages 3, 4, or 5 years in the Tuesday/Thursday afternoon classes. 
All 3-year-old children living in Minnesota will do an Early Childhood Screening as they near age 4. If your child is nearly 4 years old or already 4 and has not been screened, call 283-4724 to arrange an appointment.
