Help others struggling with coronavirus challenges
In response to residents and organizations being overwhelmed by challenges related to the coronavirus, the Luverne Area Chamber is lining up volunteers to shop and/or deliver for those individuals who are unable to leave their homes.
The intent is to coordinate this as a service to residents supporting our local businesses. A protocol will minimize contact between volunteers and people requesting services. To join the list of volunteers, call the Chamber at (507-283-4061).
American Red Cross blood drive for Luverne, April 7th.
With Grace Lutheran being closed Grand Prairie Events Center will host the American Red Cross Blood Drive on April 7. Call A.C.E. of SW Minnesota – Rock County for details. (507) 283-5064
Kindergarten Round-Up canceled, but paperwork due
Luverne Kindergarten Round-Up in-person meeting has been canceled, but Luverne Elementary School personnel still needs the registration paperwork. The paperwork can be sent electrically or mailed to the elementary school. Call 507-283-4497 for more information.
Community ed accepting drop-box registration
Luverne Community Education policy is that when school is canceled, no community education classes are held. Grades K -12 summer Baseball and Softball registrations will continue to be accepted thru March 27. This includes t-ball. Information may be found on the Com Ed link of the Luverne School website, on page 14 & 15 of the Winter Brochure. There is a drop box to the left of the outside door at Com Ed, if you prefer to drop off your registration, rather than mail it to the office. (507) 283-4724. Spring weight restrictions in place
Spring weight road restrictions are in place on Rock County roadways. Ending dates are variable, and drivers must check for updates throughout the spring. Call Rock County Highway Engineer Mark Sehr at 507-283-5010 with questions and updates.
