Meetings
Rock County Thrivent Board will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 16, at The Bluestem.

Luverne Aquatic and Fitness Center open house will be Monday, June 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All residents of Luverne and the surrounding area are invited to tour the facility and fill out comment cards to give input on what they would like to see added or improved.
Women’s Alcoholics Anonymous meets at 8 p.m. Mondays in the United Methodist Church basement. Use the east entrance.
Al-Anon meets from 6:30 to  7:30 p.m. Wednesdays in the Buffalo Ridge Meeting Room (lower level) at the Sanford Medical Center in Luverne. Call Stephanie at 507-449-1246.

Luverne Lions will meet at 6 p.m. the fourth Monday of the month at Blue Mound Banquet Center.

Luverne Township Board meets at 9 a.m. the second Wednesday of every month in the Rock County Community Library.
Mound Township Board meets at 7:30 p.m. the second Monday each month at the Rock County Highway Building, Luverne.
Southwest Minnesota Habitat for Humanity meets the fourth Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Habitat Office located in the alley entrance of 126 East Main Street. Visitors are Welcome. Call 507-215-2091 for further information.
 
Free Food Ministry June 16
The monthly Food Ministry, sponsored by New Life Celebration Church, will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday, June 16, at the Luverne Senior Center. If you’re having trouble putting food on the table, come for fresh produce, bread and meat. Children will be asked to wait outside.
 
Hinkly history and community tours June 16
On Thursday, June 16, the Hinkly House will feature trolley tours around town to highlight businesses and other Hinkly ventures in Luverne. Tours are from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. leaving every 30 minutes. Refreshments will be served, and a freewill donation is requested.
 
Ellsworth Family Fun Days coming up June 17-19
Ellsworth will celebrate Family Fun Days this weekend, June 17-19.
Friday events include crowning of Little Miss Ellsworth at 6 p.m. and a pedal pull at 6:30 p.m., with karoke under the tent at 9 p.m.
Saturday events feature a craft fair at the park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., a ribs supper at 5 p.m., a parade at 6:30 p.m., and a 9 p.m. dance with the band “Pirate Taxi.” 
Sunday’s events include a pancake feed beginning at 9 a.m., community worship at 10:30 a.m., and a bean bag tournament at 1 p.m.
 
Rock County Transfer Station open June 18
To accommodate those who don’t have enough time during the week, the Rock County Transfer Station will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 18, Saturday, July 16, and Saturday, Aug. 20. Call Rock County Highway Engineer, Mark Sehr, at 507-283-5010 with questions.
 
Luverne Area Aquatics/Fitness invites public to open house June 20
Luverne Area Aquatics & Fitness Center will host an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, June 20. The public is invited to tour the facility and fill out comment cards. The staff and board are interested in receiving suggestions for improvements and additions to the facility.
 
Rock County Master Gardeners annual garden tour
Join the Rock County Master Gardeners for their annual tour Monday, June 20. The bus loads promptly at 6 p.m. and leaves at 6:15 p.m. from the south side of the school to tour gardens in the Luverne area. Pre-registration is necessary to secure seating. Call Sheila Steinhoff at 507-283-1302. Rain date is Tuesday, June 21.
 
Living Rock Church offers Kids Rock Sports Camp 
The Living Rock Church invites area children who completed K-fifth grade to the “Kids Rock Sports Camp” from 6:30 to 8 p.m. June 20-24 at the Luverne City Park. The camp includes sports participation, Bible study, give-aways, T-shirts and lots of fun. Cost is $10, with a family maximum of $30. Blood Drive in Adrian June 20
Sanford Clinic Adrian and Community Blood Bank will host an “All American” blood drive on Monday, June 20, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Adrian Fire Station. All who donate will receive a free Subway lunch and a special T-shirt.
 
Free Community Meal June 22
The Fourth Wednesday Free Community Meal will be Wednesday, June 22. Service begins at 5:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Luverne.
 
Kids Connection at Farmers Market
American Reformed Church Youth Praise Band will provide Kids Connection at the Thursday night Farmers Market in Luverne from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. June 23.
 
Library hosts ‘Minnesota Gold’ author June 23
“Minnesota Gold” author Patrick Mader will visit the Rock County Library at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 23. His book celebrates the perseverance and triumphs of 57 Minnesota Olympic athletes from 1948-2014.
The free program is funded by the Minnesota Arts & Cultural Heritage and is open to the public. 
 
‘Gitchie Girl’ authors at library June 25
The Rock County Library will host “Gitchie Girl” authors Phil and Sandy Hamman from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 25. 
The authors will discuss survivor Sandra Chesky’s struggles in rebuilding her life emotionally and spiritually after witnessing the Gitchie Manitou 1973 mass murders and being sexually assaulted.
A book signing will follow the event. Books will be available for purchase at the library.
 
Hardwick celebrates Jubilee Days June 24-26
Hardwick Jubilee Days events are as follows:
•Friday, June 24: 8 p.m. Fast pitch softball.
•Saturday, June 25: Co-ed softball tourney; Community meal from 5-7 p.m. at Hardwick Fire Hall; 7 p.m. Parade; Pedal Pull after parade; 9 p.m. Street Dance with “Driven” band. 
•Sunday, June 26: Outdoor worship service at Zion Lutheran at 10:30 a.m.
