Springwater Township Board will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, at the new townhall.
Sanford Luverne Pink Ladies will meet at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, in Sanford Luverne Blue Mound Room for the program, “Come and meet the new surgeon.”
Beaver Creek Township meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, in the township hall.

Hardwick Goal Seekers meet every Monday in Hardwick City Hall for the purpose of support and encouragement for weight loss journeys. Weigh-in begins at 6 p.m., and the meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. Call Glenda, 449-0568, with questions.

Commissioners meeting rescheduled
The Rock County Commissioners meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 20, has been postponed to Tuesday, Sept. 3. The meeting begins at 9 a.m.
 
Register students new to Luverne school district 
New residents to Luverne School District #2184 should register their children at the respective school offices for the 2019-2020 school year.
The High School/Middle School Office is open for new students to register. Call 507-283-4491 for middle school and high school grades 6-12.
The Elementary School Office is open for new students to register. Parents of elementary grades K-5 can call 507-283-4497.
First day of school is Monday, Sept. 16.
 
Hills community prayer walk Aug. 28
Helping Build Communities Stronger will sponsor a Community Prayer Walk Wednesday, Aug. 28, at the H-BC High School parking lot beginning at 7:30 p.m. For those willing to donate school supplies, a container will be available to accept items.
 
Tractor ride Aug. 30
The 50-mile Luverne fourth-annual Tractor Ride begins at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at the Luverne City Park. Registration is at 8 a.m., and cost is $25 including breakfast and lunch.
Tractors need to be able to travel at 10 mph and must be equipped with a slow-moving vehicle sign on the back. No dual wheels are permitted. Riders must be provided with properly  mounted seats. Drivers must be licensed and are responsible for their own insurance. No alcohol will be allowed on the ride.

Children’s Dental Services Sept. 4
Children’s Dental Services will bring its dental clinic to Luverne on Wednesday, Sept. 4, at the Rock County Health and Human Services building on Roundwind Road just off North Blue Mound Avenue for patients up to 26 years old and pregnant women.
Call 866-543-6009 to schedule an appointment.
The clinic will offer routine dental care, such as exams, X-rays, cleanings, sealants, fillings, crowns and more. CDS accepts all forms of insurance and has discounts for income-eligible families.
The mobile clinic will be in Worthington Sept. 5.
 
Bank Nite movie ‘The Lego Movie 2’ Sept. 5
The free Bank Nite family movie, “The Lego Movie 2,” rated PG, will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at the Palace Theatre in Luverne.
Sponsored by First Farmers & Merchants National Bank and Papik Motors, a free, family-friendly movie is shown on the first Thursday of every month as it was done for “Bank Nite” in the 1930s. A cash prize drawing will follow the movie. Must be present to win.
Join the Healthier Southwest Community Leadership Team
A Healthier Southwest Community Leadership Team is looking for new members to emphasize healthy living. Donations accepted for library book sale
The Friends of the Library are conducting their annual fundraising Book Sale Sept. 18-21.
Donations of books and other library materials may be dropped off at the Rock County Library on Main Street Luverne.
 
Upcoming concerts at Palace Theatre
The Palace Theatre will host two concerts, “Coming Home” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, and “Superstar: The Songs, the Stories, the Carpenters” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4. Tickets are available at the Palace Theatre box office or by calling 507-283-4339.
 
Discovery Time has openings for fall
Openings in the Discovery Time Preschool are available for 3-4-year-olds in the MWF morning class and the T/Th afternoon class. Children who are 3 by Sept. 1, 2019, are eligible, and schohlarships are available if income guidelines can be met. Call Luverne Community Education at 507-283-4724 for more details. (Note: The office will be closed from July 19-Aug. 9.)
 
Free Medicare classes
Free classes for people who are new to Medicare are offered the second and third Mondays every month at the Minnesota River Area on Aging, 1939 Engebretson Ave., Slayton.
In the first class, participants will learn basics of Medicare and their options. The second class teaches how to research these options using non-biased tools, such as the Medicare website and Medicare Plan Finder Tool.

Senior/Kids Day at State Fair  Chartered Bus Trip on Aug. 29. Board the bus in Luverne or Worthington.  Fee is $75/person.
Melodious Mallets began at Luverne Street Music Tuesday, Aug. 20, for students ages 7-12 years. Fee is $40 for the 19 weeks of class. 
Introduction to Horsemanship will be at Rock Ranch on Aug. 26 for grades 3 6 (as attended during 18-19 school year) or for older students through adults on August 27.  Fee is $20.
