Travis and McKenzie Helgeson wed
McKenzie Van Batavia and Travis Helgeson were married on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, at the Reformed Church of Steen in Steen.
Parents of the bride are Bruce and Wendy Van Batavia, Alexandria. Parents of the groom are Gary and Maureen Helgeson, Beaver Creek.
Jason Martens officiated the ceremony.
The bride’s maid of honor was her sister Madison Van Batavia. Bridesmaids were the bride’s friends Micaela Noga, Cari Larson and Brittani Rundell, the bride’s and groom’s friend Nicole Hoff, and the groom’s sister Brittany Fallon. The bride’s personal attendants were Macy Ellingson and Bethany Tilstra.
The groom’s friend Cory Tilstra was best man. Groomsmen were the groom’s cousin Dustin Verhey and the groom’s friends Karic Wiertzema, Caleb Ellingson, Joseph Streeter and Kyle Rozeboom. Flower girl was Peyton Hodgson, cousin of the bride, and ring bearer was Noah Hodgson, cousin of the bride.
The groom’s friends Brandon Boeve, Justin Brandt, Dylan Gehrke and Zach Wagenaar were ushers.
A reception at Holiday Inn Express and Suites Event Center in Brandon, South Dakota, followed the ceremony.
McKenzie is a 2013 graduate of Morris Area High School in Morris and a 2018 graduate of Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall. She is employed as a special education teacher at Prairie Elementary School in Worthington.
Travis graduated in 2011 from Hills-Beaver Creek High School and is a 2013 graduate of Southeast Technical Institute in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He is the public works supervisor for the city of Beaver Creek.
The couple is living in Beaver Creek.
