Joan Adrianna Boeve was born August 4, 1929, in Hull, Iowa, to John and Kate (Korthals) Vanden Oever. She was raised in Hull and attended country school. She married Donald Boeve in her parents’ home on January 18, 1950. Following their marriage, the couple made their home on a farm near Hills, Minnesota, where they farmed for the next 61 years.
