Sudenga advances to State Golf

LHS junior Owen Sudenga qualified for the Boys’ 3AA State Golf Tournament at Oakdale Golf Club in Buffalo Lake Wednesday, May 31.
Sudenga shot an 18-hole score of 74 in Day 2 of the section tournament. On Day 1 action, May 25, he finished with a score of 74.
His two-day total score of 148 put him in second place overall in the section and punched his ticket to advance to state competition June 12 and 13 at Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan.
The Luverne golf team finished in second place in team competition with a two-day total of 628.
The LHS boys’ team missed advancing to state by seven strokes.
New London-Spicer finished in first place with a team score of  623 and advanced to the state tournament.
Junior Henry Hartquist finished the tournament in 11th place with a total of 158 and senior Brady Bork finished in 12th place with a score of 159.
Three other golfers for Luverne participated in the section meet.
Junior Tyler Arends shot a 163 in the two-day tournament, eighth-grader Will Bergman finished with a 173 and sophomore Levi Gonnerman shot a 174.
