Successful outings for H-BC track

The Hills-Beaver Creek track and field teams had successful outings in the past week with top placings in Worthington and Slayton.
The Patriots competed in the Trojan Relays Tuesday, May 16, where the H-BC boys and girls placed second among Class A teams.
H-BC athletes competed in the Red Rock Conference meet May 18 in Slayton where the girls’ team placed third and the boys were fourth.
The Patriots will travel to Pipestone Thursday, May 25, for Section 3A Sub-Sections and Montevideo Thursday, June 1, for Sections.
 
Trojan Relays
Both the boys’ and girls’ H-BC teams placed second in Class A team competition at the Worthington Trojan Relays on May 16.
H-BC placed first in four events at the meet.
Brynn Bakken took first place in three individual events, 100 meters with a time of 12.77, 200 meters with a time of 26.75 and the triple jump with a distance of 33 feet, 10 inches.
Bakken was part of the 4-by-100-meter relay with Abigail Harris, Layla Deelstra and Brynn Rauk that took first place with a time of 52.65.
Beau Bakken placed first in the shot put with a throw of 43 feet, 5 1/4 inches.
In the boys’ team competition, Southwest Minnesota Christian-Edgerton placed first in Class A with 143 team points. Hills-Beaver Creek was second with 95, Tracy-Milroy-Balaton was third with 87, Heron Lake-Okebena/Fulda was fourth with 85, Worthington was fifth with 80.67, Adrian/Ellsworth was sixth with 73, Westbrook-Walnut Grove-Red Rock Central was seventh with 61, and Murray County Central was eighth with 55.33 combined team points.
In the girls’ team results, Southwest Minnesota Christian-Edgerton placed first in Class A with 179 team points. Hills-Beaver Creek was second with 137, Murray County Central was third with 121, Tracy-Milroy-Balaton was fourth with 77.5, Westbrook-Walnut Grove-Red Rock Central was fifth with 51, Adrian/Ellsworth was sixth with 43, Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda was seventh with 42 and Worthington was eighth with 20.5 combined team points.

Red Rock Conference Track Meet
The Patriot boys’ team placed fourth with 114 combined team points out of seven and the girls were third with 140 points in Slayton, May 18.
H-BC had five first-place finishes at the meet.
Brynn Bakken placed first in the 100 meters with a time of 13.05, the 200 meters with a time of 26.67, long jump at 16 feet, one inch.
The Partiots’ team of Claire Knobloch, Layla Deelstra, Hailey Moser and Brynn Rauk took first in the girls’ 4-by-100-meter relay with a time of 54.72.
Beau Bakken placed first in the shot put with a toss of 40 feet, 10 1/2 inches.
Southwest Minnesota Christian-Edgerton placed first in Class A boys’ competition with 139 team points. Mountain Lake Area-Comfrey placed second with 129, Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda was third with 116, Hills-Beaver Creek took fourth with 114, Adrian/Ellsworth was fifth with 74, Murray County Central was sixth with 63 and Westbrook-Walnut Grove/Red Rock Central placed seventh with 57 team points.
In the girls’ team competition Southwest Minnesota Christian-Edgerton placed first in Class A with 191 team points.
Murray County Central was second with 144, Hills-Beaver Creek was third with 140, Mountain Lake Area-Comfrey was fourth with 78.5, Westbrook-Walnut Grove/Red Rock Central was fifth with 56, Adrian/Ellsworth was sixth with 47.5 and Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda placed seventh with 35 team points.
