Smith Repeats as A Modified winner in Slayton

Four nights of dirt track racing at three different area tracks attracted Rock County drivers last week.
Jeremy Smith of Luverne set the pace for all local drivers when he won the A-Modifieds feature for the second week in a row Friday night in Slayton.
Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, Iowa, staged an extra night of racing action, adding the Lyon County Fair Races on Tuesday, July 21, to their regular Friday night feature.
Murray County Speedway in Slayton and I-90 Speedway near Hartford, South Dakota, offered races on their normal Friday and Saturday nights respectively.
 
Rapid Speedway
Ryan Walker of Kanaranzi returned to the dirt track for his first race of the year July 21 when he entered the Lyon County Fair races in Rock Rapids.
Walker raced in the A-Modifieds class. He started the feature race in 21st place and finished in 17th overall.
The Friday night races at Rapid Speedway attracted a larger field of drivers.
Luverne’s Colton Arends finished second in the Stock Cars feature race for the second week in a row.
 Scott Overgaard of Luverne finished fourth and Kevin Kremin of Kenneth came in ninth in the same Stock Cars feature.
Brandon Boeve of Beaver Creek placed seventh in the Sportsmans feature race.
In the Hobby Stocks class, Eric Gaul, Luverne, finished fourth and Thomas Kracht, also of Luverne, ended in seventh place in the A Feature race.
 
Murray County Speedway
Jeremy Smith won his second A-Modified feature race in as many weeks and third of the season at Murray County Speedway in Slayton Friday night.
Smith, racing in the A-Modifieds class, won his heat race before starting and finishing the feature race in first place.
 
I-90 Speedway
Two Luverne drivers raced in the Hobby Stocks class at I-90 Speedway Saturday night.
Cadyn Wessels placed first in the B Feature race before finishing 18th in the A Feature.
Thomas Kracht started the A Feature race in 16th place before finishing in the 13th spot.
