The South Central District announced their all-district team for the 2020 season recently and the Luverne Cardinals were well represented. In total the Cardinals had five players receive all-district honors.
LaShad Smit, Zach Ahrendt, Bailey Cowell, Cade Wenninger, Peter Baustian and Ethan Beyer all received first-team all-district honors.
Jamie McCarthy was named all district honorable mention.
Ahrendt, who will be playing college football at Southwest Minnesota State University, was named Offensive Lineman of the Year. Ahrendt shared the honor with Blue Earth Area’s Luke Mertens.
Cowell was named Wide Receiver of the Year.
Smith was named Defensive Back of the Year.
Shaid Shear was named Special Teams Player of the Year.
The Cardinals finished district play with a 4-1 record. The Cardinals finished the season with an overall record of 6-1.
