Redbirds send six balls over the fence in two game wins

The Redbirds posted six homeruns in two games this past week, beating Hadley 10-1 at home July 12 and Ruthton 17-1 on the road July 16.
The win against Hadley clinched Luverne’s Gopher League regular season championship.
The Redbirds will play their last regular season game against the Tea Steam Wednesday, July 19, at home.

The Redbirds beat the Buttermakers 10-1 at Redbird Field Wednesday, July 12.
Phil Paquette hit a grand slam in the third inning, helping spark the Redbirds’ bats.
Paquette drove in Skyler Wennnger, Ben Serie and Nick Smith with his line drive over the left field fence.
Later in the inning, Cade Wenninger hit a ground ball, knocking in Newt Johnson from third base.
Skyler Wenninger was walked to score Derek Lundgren from third.
Serie closed the inning with a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Sehr and taking the team to a 7-1 lead over Hadley.
In the bottom of the sixth inning Lundgren singled to center to drive in Smith.
With two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning, Declan Beers singled to center, scoring Johnson and Lundgren.
Cade Wenninger took the mound for the Redbirds, pitching five innings, allowing one run on four hits while striking out three batters.
Jake Haugen came in to relieve Wenninger to pitch four innings, allowing four hits and zero runs, striking out three batters.

Five home runs from the Redbirds powered Luverne to a 17-1 win over Ruthton on the road Sunday, July 16.
Cade Wenninger sent two over the wall in the game to record a grand slam in the second inning and a solo in the sixth.
Paquette, Skyler Wenninger and Sehr also posted homeruns in the game.
Luverne had 20 team hits in the game with no errors and only two strikeouts against them.
Lundgren got the win on the mound, pitching three innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out three and walking one. Skyler Wenninger, Paquette and Beyer also pitched scoreless innings for the Redbirds.
