Patriot boys and girls place seventh at True Team track and field meet

The Hills-Beaver Creek High School track and field teams traveled to Redwood Falls last week to compete in the section True Team Meet.
It was a meet that included all teams from Section 3A and awarded points to each individual and relay team from first place all the way down to last.
The points are totaled up at the end, and the winning team moves on to the State True Team meet. The H-BC girls and boys both placed seventh, with the girls scoring 363.5 points and the boys 328.5.
For the girls, seventh-grader Brynn Bakken took first place in the 100- and 200-meter dash. Her time in the 100 meter was 13.10 and her 200-meter time was 27.91.
The girls’ 4-by-200-meter relay run by Olivia Deelstra, Brynn Rauk, Layla Deelstra and Bakken finished third with a time of 1:53.81.
The 4-by-100-meter relay team of Rauk, O. Deelstra, Abbie Harris and L. Deelstra also placed third with a 53.95.
Senior Kenadie Fick placed fifth in the 1,600-meter run with a personal best time of 5:49.60.
The Patriot boys’ 4-by-200-meter relay team of Ty Bundesen, Luke Fuerstenberg, Eli Taubert and Cooper Gehrke was the top finisher for H-BC with a third-place effort at 1:39.19.
The 4-by-100-meter relay team that placed fourth (49.33) was made up of Bundesen, Fuerstenberg, Beau Bakken and Liam Raymon.
Raymon was also able to place fifth in the triple jump with 41-1 1/2.  Junior Brock Harnack turned in a fifth-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 48.40.
