Luverne Redbirds beat Ruthton 11-1 at Redbird Field

The Luverne Redbirds extended their season record to 4-0 Wednesday, May 31, with an 11-1 home win over Ruthton.
The Redbirds flew past the Royals while collecting nine hits and 11 RBIs in the game.
Luverne’s Nick Smith sent one over the wall in the seventh inning to put an exclamation point on the game win.
Smith covered six bases in the game and drove in four RBIs.
Phil Paquette, Jake Haugen and Ethan Beyer scored two runs each for Luverne.
Declan Beers, Newt Johnson, Derek Lundgren, Brandon Fowler and Smith each crossed the plate one time in the game.
Ben Serie started the game on the mound for Luverne, pitching two innings, allowing three hits and no runs, striking out three with no walks.
Brooks Maurer pitched the final three innings, allowing two hits and no runs.
Fowler closed the game pitching two innings, allowing one hit, one run and striking out one.
Ruthton scored one run on six hits with one RBI and five strikeouts against Luverne.
The Redbirds will travel to Worthington Wednesday, June 7, and to Hadley and Heron Lake Sunday, June 11.
