Luverne Junior Legion baseball team wins twice

The Luverne Junior Legion baseball team picked up two more wins last week.
Luverne earned a 6-3 win in Minneota Thursday before defeating Worthington 7-2 at home Monday night.
The team has a busy week ahead. Luverne hosted Jackson at Redbird Field Tuesday night after this edition of the Star Herald went to press.
Luverne will play in Slayton tonight (Thursday) and in Lamberton on Monday.
On Wednesday, June 22, the Junior Legion team will kick off a big night of baseball in Luverne.
Pipestone’s Junior Legion, Senior Legion and amateur teams will all play their Luverne counterparts at Redbird Field with the Junior Legion game scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
 
Luverne 6, Minneota 3
Luverne traveled to Minneota June 9 and came home with a 6-3 victory.
Elliot Domagala led the offense for Luverne. He was two for four at the plate and scored two runs.
Will Serie also had two hits for Luverne and scored once.
Conner Connell and Marcus Vortherms also plated runs for Luverne.
Jacob Stroh pitched the first five innings for the victors. Kai Buss pitched in relief for the final two innings.

Luverne 7, Worthington 2
Luverne built a 7-0 lead going into the final inning and limited Worthington to two runs to secure the 7-2 victory Monday night at Redbird Field.
Domagala was two for three at the plate and scored a run.
Serie hit a double and scored two runs.
Patrick Kroski and Layke Miller also scored runs for Luverne.
Kroski was on the mound for the first four innings, giving up no hits.
Vortherms pitched the next two innings, also holding Worthington hitless.
Ahrendt threw the final inning for Luverne, giving up one hit and two runs.
