Luverne girls' track team claims sub-section team title, boys' team finishes second

Luverne hosted the Section 3A Subsection Southwest track meet on Thursday, May 26, where the Cardinal girls took the team title and the LHS boys were second. 
In this competition, coaches are looking to win the team title, but athletes look to advance to the section meet and a chance for a trip to state.
The top four in each event advance to the section meet. Also, the next top four performances of all three subsections advance.
Luverne girls took the team title by 85 points over Southwest Christian-Edgerton High School, and LHS boys lost to SWC-EHS by four points to take second.  
Tenley Nelson won the 800-meter run (2:21.15) and Cassi Chesley finished third (2:33.99).
Jenna Debates finished second (11:52.09) and Ella Schmuck third (13:07) in the 1,600-meter run.
Elizabeth Wagner won the 300-meter hurdles (48.10).
Mia Wenzel won the high jump (4-09).
Isabella Oye was second in the 200-meter dash (27.52). Tiana Lais placed second in the 400-meter dash (1:03.13).  
The 4-by-400-meter relay team of Tiana Lais, Elizabeth Wagner, Sarah Stegenga and Tenley Nelson won in a time of 4:09.85. 
The 4-by-800-meter relay team of Elizabeth Wagner, Tiana Lais, Jenna DeBates and Tenley Nelson finished first (9:38.06).
The 4-by-100-meter relay team of Mia Wenzel, Anna Banck, Isabella Oye and Sarah Stegenga was second in a time of 51.66. 
The 4-by-200-meter relay team of Makena Nelson, Isabella Oye, Anna Banck and Sarah Stegenga was also second in a time of 1:49.80.  
Jocelyn Hart finished first (40-02) and Jadyn Hart second (35-10) in the shot put. Jocelyn Hart was first (119-07) and Jadyn Hart second (113-00) in the discus.
Kendra Thorson was first (15-03.75) and Makena Nelson second (15-02.75) in the long jump. Kendra Thorson also won the triple jump (32-06).  
For the LHS boys, Ashton Sandbulte won the 100-meter dash (11.01) and 200-meter dash (22.35). He also was a member of the first-place 4-by-100-meter relay team with Lucky Dara, Zachary Terrio and Eli Radtke (44.73). 
Radtke also went on to win the pole vault at 12-03.  
Lucky Dara was second in the 400-meter dash (53.45). Ryan Fick was third in the 800-meter run (2:06.23).  
The 4-by-800-meter relay team of Ryan Fick, Sage Viessman, Camden Janiszeski and Owen Janiszeski won in a time of 8:35. 
Luverne placed first, second and third in the 3,200-meter run with Camden Janiszeski (10:01.00), Owen Janiszeski (10:06.16) and Sage Viessman (11:06.18). 
Jordan Friedrichsen had a third in the shot put (46-04.50).
