LHS Cardinal wrestling team competes in two triangulars, record sits at 1-3

The Luverne wrestling team took part in two triangular meets this week, going 1-3.
The Cardinals opened the week with a triangular in Adrian on Tuesday, Feb. 9. The Cardinals defeated Chester 38-21 and lost to Adrian 60-18.
Luverne then hosted Waseca and Pipestone Area on Thursday, Feb. 11, falling to Waseca 54-21 and the Arrows 51-24.
 
LHS 38, Chester 21
Rayden Boyenga won by fall over Jacob Foster in the 113-pound division for the Cardinals.
In the 126-pound class it was Riley Cowell winning by fall over Jessy Stalford.
Braydon Ripka won by technical fall (16-10) over Jacob Shaw in the 145-pound division.
Hunter Baker won by fall over Aidan Shaw in the 160-pound weight class.
Jacob Madison won by decision (9-7) over Layne Hess in the 170-pound division.
 
Adrian 60, LHS 18
The Cardinals won three matches over the Dragons, with all three wins coming by fall.
Cowell won by fall over Bruce Farinella in the 120-pound division.
Ripka won by fall over Reese Morrison in the 145-pound division.
In the 152-weight class, Baker won by fall over Isaac Bullerman.
 
Waseca 54, LHS 21
The Cardinals picked up four victories on Thursday, Feb. 11, at home against the Blue Jays.
Ripka won by fall in the 145-pound division over Brandon Lopez-Huerta.
Jaden Reisch won by fall over Brooklynn Hicks in the 160-pound division.
Maysn Smith won by decision (17-10) over Carter Ellis.
In the 195-pound division, it was Chris Rosin winning by fall over RIver Schmidt.
 
Pipestone 51, LHS 24
Rayden Boyenga won by decision (10-8) over Haden Mulvihill in the 113-pound class.
Cowell won by decision (10-6) over JJ Mertens in the 120-pound division.
Reisch won by fall over Gavin Olson in the 152-pound division.
Rosin picked up the pinfall victory over Allen Tubbs in the 182-pound division.
The Cardinals will be back home on Thursday, Feb. 18.
