Holiday weekend draws fewer racers

The July 4 weekend was relatively quiet for local dirt track drivers, crews and fans.
Three Rock County drivers raced at two area tracks over the holiday weekend.
Murray County Speedway in Slayton hosted seven classes of racing Friday night and I-90 Speedway near Hartford, South Dakota, staged five classes Saturday night.  
 
Murray County Speedway
Jeremy Smith of Luverne placed sixth overall in the IMCA A Modifieds feature race Friday night in Slayton.
Smith placed second in his heat race and started the feature race in the fourth spot.   
 
I-90 Speedway
Luverne’s Cadyn Wessels was the only local driver competing at the I-90 Speedway  Saturday night.
Wessels raced in the Hobby Stocks class. He placed third in his heat race before finishing in the eighth spot in the A feature race.
