The Hills-Beaver Creek golf team participated in two golf meets this past week.
The Patriots competed in a Red Rock Conference meet April 27 and played against Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda/Westbrook-Walnut Grove May 1.
The Patriots will compete Thursday, May 4, with the girls in Adrian and the boys in Mountain Lake. On Tuesday, May 9, the girls will play in Fulda and the boys in Westbrook.
Red Rock Conference
The Hills-Beaver Creek boys’ golf team traveled to Sanborn for a Red Rock Conference meet Thursday, April 27.
The H-BC boys’ team finished the 18-hole, par 72 meet in fifth place out of seven teams.
HLOF/WWG took first place in the team competition with a total score of 358.
Adrian was second with 363, Mountain Lake was third with 376, Southwest Christian was fourth with 387, H-BC fifth with 430, Murray County Central sixth with 431 and Red Rock Central was seventh with 468.
“The boys’ team averaged 215 for each 9 holes. It is our best score so far this season,” head coach Dan Ellingson said.
“We will continue to improve as they gain experience, especially on the putting side of their golf game.”

The Patriots sent two girls to participate in the meet. Addy Olson finished in 11th place, and Taylor Spykerboer finished in 12th place.
“Both played through the wind, but hit their irons very well,” Ellingson said.

The Patriots golf team traveled to Rolling Hills Golf Course in Westbrook to take on HLOF/WWG Monday, May 1, falling 166-217.
“The wind was tough for both teams,” Ellingson said.
“But this meet is good practice for them before the next conference meet.”
The H-BC boys’ golf team brought six players to the meet.

“The boys scores are getting better each meet,” Ellingson said.
“But we still need to better our team score by 17 strokes by the fourth conference meet.”
