H-BC boys’ golf team places fifth at Red Rock Conference meet

The Hills-Beaver Creek golf team competed in the Red Rock Conference golf meet No. 2 Tuesday, May 4, at Mountain Lake, where they finished fifth out of seven teams.
Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda/Westbrook Walnut Grove finished first with a combined 18-hole score of 358. Adrian/Ellsworth was second with 363, Mountain Lake Area-Comfrey third with 376, Southwest Christian-Edgerton fourth with 387, Hills-Beaver Creek fifth with 430, Murray County Central sixth with 431 and Red Rock Central seventh with 468.
“The boys had their best team score of the year, with all six boys recording their personal best scores,” head coach Dan Ellingson said. 
“They are improving and are looking forward to the next conference meet.”
Micah Bush led the Patriots with a 53 on the first nine holes and a 44 on the second nine for a total of 97.
Brock Harnack shot 53 and 49 for a 102. Callum Bartels and Cameron Allen both shot two rounds of 51 for a 102 total. Cooper Gehrke shot 48 and 57 for a 105, and Camdyn Broesder shot 53 and 56 for a 109.
The girls’ team played at Adrian and did not place with only two girls competing.
Abby Olson shot a 58 on the first nine and a 61 on the second to finish with a 119.
Taylor Spykerboer shot 66-70 for a 136.
Both girls did not have their best day,” Ellingson said.
H-BC was scheduled to compete in the Red Rock Conference Golf Meet No. 3 Tuesday, May 9.
The girls’ team will play in Fulda and the boys’ team will travel to Westbrook-Walnut Grove for that meet.
Both the boys’ and girls’ teams will travel to Adrian Friday, May 12.
