The 33rd annual Rock County Fair Enduro Race is still a go for Saturday night.
With the 2020 Rock County Fair officially canceled due to pandemic concerns, no other grandstand events will take place this year.
The Fair Enduro will limit the number of people allowed in the stands and the pits (250 each), but otherwise the race should go on as normal, according to organizers.
“We’re able to spread out pretty well at the race track,” said Fair Enduro Race promoter Justin Kemp.
The race is part of the LSR (Luverne, Slayton, Rock Rapids) Enduro Series and is the third race of the season for the series.
Race officials have spent time this summer continuing to improve the track.
“The other tracks in the Series race every week,” Kemp said, “We knew we had to step up our game.”
Track enhancements include 1,000 yards of additional dirt and dirt relaying by W&N Construction and Ver Steeg Excavating.
Race organizers are also looking forward to a new scoring system and new safety lights being used for the first time.
Kemp said he’s expecting at least 25-30 cars to compete at this year’s race.
2019 Rock County Fair Enduro winner Evan Schettler of Adrian is planning to defend his title at this weekend’s race.
Stuart Nelson, Sioux Falls, who is currently leading the LSR Enduro Series, is also registered to race.
The Rock County Fair Enduro Race  is sponsored by Connell Car Care, Jaycox, Wyffels Hybrids, Fick Seed and R&S Sales.
Pit gates open at 4 p.m. for inspection and gates open at 5 p.m. The race is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. at the Rock County Fairgrounds in Luverne.
