The Luverne cross country team put together a strong showing in Pipestone on Thursday, Sept. 24. At the Hiawatha Pageant Grounds, the Cardinals took home first place in four of the five competitions.
“I thought the kids competed well and showed a lot of improvement since the first meet on that same course,” Luverne head coach Pete Janiszeski said.
“We had the individual winner in four of the five races we had athletes competing in.”
The varsity girls owned the Top 3 of the competition and had all seven runners finish in the Top 10.
Tenley Nelson finished first, Jenna DeBates finished second and Brooklynn Ver Steeg placed third.
Grace Ingebretson finished fifth with a time of 21:44. Regan Feit placed sixth with a time of 22:09. Elizabeth Wagner crossed the finish line in seventh place with a time of 22:12. Kayla Bloemendaal finished 10th with a time of 22:55.
“We had all seven girls in the top 10, which is awesome,” Janiszeski said.
Griffen Jarchow placed inside the Top Five for the Cardinal boys with a fourth-place finish in 18:40.
“Griffen Jarchow had another great race for us,” Janiszeski said. “He’s really been racing well the past few weeks.”
