Local dirt-track racers competed at three local tracks this weekend.
Colton Arends led Rock County drivers by winning the Stock Car A Feature race at Rapid Speedway Friday night.
Locals also raced at Murray County Speedway in Slayton Friday and I-90 Speedway near Hartford, South Dakota, Saturday night.
Rapid Speedway
Colton Arends of Luverne won his third feature race of the 2020 season Friday night at Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, Iowa.
Arends started the feature race in tenth place before working his way up to the first place finish.
“I was patient and bided my time,” Arends said when asked about his winning strategy.
Spencer Kalass of Luverne placed fifth in the Sportsman’s feature.
In the Hobby Stocks class, Eric Gaul of Luverne placed fourth, Cory Kelderman of Hills placed fifth and Cadyn Wessels of Luverne finished seventh.
Murray County Speedway
Luverne’s Jeremy Smith was the lone Rock County driver at Murray County Speedway in Slayton Friday night.
Smith competes in the IMCA A Modifieds class and finished fifth this week in the feature race.
I-90 Speedway
I-90 Speedway near Hartford, South Dakota, staged their usual Saturday night racing with Cadyn Wessels of Luverne as the only Rock County driver competing.
Wessels raced in the Hobby Stocks class. He placed first in his heat race before finishing in the 16th spot in the feature race.
