The Luverne Baseball Association (LBA) hosted its 2023 Buffalo Days Baseball Tournament June 2-4 with 37 local and regional teams competing on multiple fields in Luverne.
Age brackets in the tournament were 9U, 10U, 11U, 12U, 13U, 14U and Jr. Legion (16U).
The tournament offers a fun and competitive environment for kids and families while bringing many visitors to the community, according to tournament director Barry Shelton.
“The tournament has been going on for over 20 years, but the LBA moved it to Buffalo Days in 2015 to coincide with the Buffalo Days activities and events,” he said.
Shelton gave a special nod to local families and volunteers for their efforts.
“It would not be possible to run the tournament as smoothly as they do,” he said.
“There were around 100 volunteers helping prep the fields, coaching, organizing activities and selling concessions during the games.”
The Luverne 14U team took first place in the weekend tournament, and two Luverne teams, 12U and 13U, finished in second place.
