The Luverne Cardinal volleyball team is observing Dig Pink Night when they host the Pipestone Arrows for a Big South Conference match Tuesday, Oct. 9.
In what has become a yearly occasion, the Cardinals and Arrows work together to raise funds for individuals who are battling cancer within one of the Luverne or Pipestone communities.
The players will be selling Dig Pink T-shirts to support the event, and there will be a volleyball-serving contest open to the public between the second and third sets that night.
All of the proceeds from the event will go to Luverne health and physical education instructor Kari Lais, who is currently battling cancer.
The Blue Mound Ice Arena will be the site of some Try Hockey for Free events next week.
Any athletes wanting to give hockey a try can participate at these events without the expense of purchasing equipment.
Events are set for 6-7 p.m. on Oct. 9 and 11.
A pizza party for participants is set for 11 a.m.-noon at the Luverne Pizza Ranch on Oct. 13.
