Remme, Gonnerman earn all-conference spots
Two Luverne High School athletes earned all-conference honors during the first Big South Conference Golf Tournament staged Monday in Fairmont.
A total of 18 boys and 18 girls form the all-conference squad at the end of the 18-hole event.
Luverne sophomore Hailey Remme and freshman Coy Gonnerman graced their respective lists for LHS.
With Remme setting the pace, the LHS girls placed seventh in an 11-team field with a 407-stroke total.
Marshall (343), Jackson County Central (357), Windom (361), Waseca (388), St. Peter (401) and Fairmont (404) led the field.
LHS topped Blue Earth Area (438), Worthington (439), New Ulm (442) and St. James (476) in the final standings.
Remme fired a 92 to share 11th place individually with Windom’s Emily Jackson.
Marshall’s Hanna Peterson won the individual title with a 73.
Madison Crabtree, Makayla Sterrett and Hannah VerSteeg contributed respective 102-, 105- and 108-stroke rounds to the team tally.
Hailey Franken shot a 114 for the Cards, who end the regular season with a 20-19 record.
The LHS boys placed eighth in a 13-team field with 368 strokes.
Worthington (326), NU (333), Marshall (337), JCC (346), SP (356), Fairmont (361), Waseca (362) and Windom (372) led the pack.
BEA (376), Redwood Valley (381), Pipestone (387) and St. James (543) capped the field.
Gonnerman placed 18th individually for the Cards after registering an 87.
NU’s Ethan Kraus claimed the individual title with a 72.
Chaz Smedsrud, Colton Arends and Jack Baustian added 90-, 93- and 98-stroke scores to Luverne’s team tally.
Casey Klosterbuer and Seth Miller shot 100- and 108-stroke rounds without impacting the scoring for the Cards, who end the regular season with a 20-11 mark.
