Adrian Area registers first softball victory
The Adrian Area softball team broke into the win column for the first time this spring when the Dragons posted a 15-5 victory in Okabena.
The score was tied at three after five innings of play before AA exploded for 12 runs in the final two frames to win handily.
Jadyen Zebe, Kristina Cauwels, Jennifer Preuss and Kendra DeBeer (five RBIs) led the Dragons with two hits each, while Shawna Rogers tossed three-plus innings for seven-strikeout relief to earn the win.
Dragons nip HL-O-F on diamond
The Adrian baseball team scored one run in the bottom half of the seventh inning to nip the Coyotes 4-3 in Adrian.
The score was knotted at two entering the home half of the seventh frame, when Brandon Schnoor doubled and eventually scored the decisive run when Marshall Wagner recorded a sacrifice fly.
Noah Reyne led the Dragons with two hits at the plate, while Ian Stamer pitched a complete game (one earned run, five hits and four strikeouts) to gain the victory.

The Hills-Beaver Creek golf teams lost matches to Westbrook-Walnut Grove at Meadow Acres County Club near Larchwood, Iowa.
Nathan Keuhl shot a medal-earning round of 42 strokes to lead the W-WG boys to a 204-213 win, while the Charger girls topped the Patriots by a 223-266 tally.
Hannah Fick earned medalist honors for the Patriot girls by posting a 45, while Thomas Dysthe shot a 47 to lead the boys.
H-BC track teams compete at T-M-B invite
The Hills-Beaver Creek boys’ track team placed fourth and the Patriot girls fifth in 10-team fields at the Tracy-Milroy-Balaton Invitational.
Tyson Bork won the 200-meter dash (24.31) and joined forces with Dewell Rauk, Hunter Bork and Gavin Wysong to win the 400-meter relay (45.69) at the meet.
Madison Spath, Sidney Fick, Layla Deelstra and Taryn Rauk won the 400- and 800-meter relays with respective times of 53.37 and 1:53.37 for the H-BC girls.
Deelstra also won the 100-meter dash in 13.4.
