Adrian boys take care of Heron Lake-Okabena
The Adrian boys’ basketball team registered a Red Rock Conference win when it notched a 79-72 victory over Heron Lake-Okabena in Adrian.
The Dragons opened a 40-25 lead at the intermission and withstood a second-half challenge by the Wildcats to win by seven points.
Jacob Stamer (19 points), Zach Bierman (17 points, five rebounds and three steals), Zach Hendel 14 points and five rebounds), Mitchell Lonneman (12 points and eight rebounds) and Nate Lonneman (six rebounds) led AHS statistically during the game.
W-WG saddles EHS boys with sixth straight loss
The Ellsworth boys’ basketball team dropped its sixth consecutive game when it came up on the short end of an 84-58 decision against Westbrook-Walnut Grove in Ellsworth.
The visiting Chargers opened an 18-point (44-26) halftime lead and outscored the Panthers 40-32 in the second half to prevail by 26 points.
Jared Leuthold (10 points and five assists), Grant Jansma (13 points), Brandon Kramer (13 points and five rebounds) and Zach Buntjer (eight rebounds) played strong games for Ellsworth.
Patriot boys drop heartbreaker in Fulda
The Hills-Beaver Creek boys’ basketball team came up on the short end of a 68-67 during a game staged in Fulda.
The Patriots fell behind by 17 points (37-20) in the first half before outscoring the Raiders 47-31 in the second stanza, which left H-BC losing by one point at game’s end.
Preston Wilhelmi (19 points and five rebounds), Zach Scholten (17 points and 10 rebounds), Trenton Bass (seven assists and five rebounds), Isaiah Vis (eight rebounds) and Dylan Forshey (six rebounds) played strong games for H-BC.
