Softball slump ends Tuesday

By John RittenhouseKerri Fransman and the Luverne softball team went 2-2 during a pair of Southwest Conference double-headers.The Cardinals lost 7-3 and 11-0 games to Jackson County Central in Jackson Thursday.Luverne snapped a six-game losing streak by posting 10-7 and 16-4 home wins over Windom Tuesday.Fransman, the starting second baseman for LHS, slapped two hits in four trips to the plate during Tuesday’s twin bill against Windom.She tripled and scored one run during a three-run victory in the opener.Fransman went 1-2, scored three runs and drove in two counters in the finale. She singled home a run in the second inning and received an RBI for a fielder’s choice in the fourth.Fransman recorded one hit in four trips to the plate during Thursday’s double-header in Jackson.The H-BC athlete singled in three plate appearances during Game 1. She was 0-1 in the second game.The 5-6 Cardinals play two games in Pipestone today before competing at the Fairmont Tournament Saturday.
