The Rock County Sheriff will receive 3-percent salary increases each of the next three years.
Beginning in 2016, the position will receive a salary of $82,897. In 2017 it will be $85,384 and in 2018 it will be $87,946.
Commissioners Ron Boyenga and Jody Reisch met with Sheriff Evan Verbrugge and recommended to the full board that Verbrugge receive a 3-percent salary increase each year for 2016, 2017 and 2018.
The commissioners unanimously supported the increases at their Dec. 1 meeting.
Boyenga said Verbrugge had requested a 4-percent increase in each of the next three years.
However, Boyenga suggested a 3-percent increase each year, which is what other county leaders, such as the engineer and administrator, received earlier this year.
Because the position of sheriff is elected and falls under civil servant guidelines, the person in that position does not undergo job performance evaluations like those of the county administrator and county engineer.
